WHY HAVING A MENTOR IS ESSENTIAL



A mentor is someone who guides you and helps you in making certain decisions and also influences your life positively through the advice he gives out. He is like a compass in your life helping you out to make wise choices.
I found out that having a mentor was essential the first time I had one If I needed a second opinion on stuff he would guide me effectively helping me not to make mistakes that he made during his time when he was the same state as I was.A mentor will help you greatly to avoid certain mistakes that he or she has experienced in his past, this why you get to learn a lot and be able to make sound decisions with a better perspective and avoiding the pitfall.
I like to use analogies, Let’s take this example. You are a visitor to a new town or city, you still don’t have a vivid understanding of the city  so you get a local friend who has lived in that city his entire life to helping you get to know the city.

It is possible for you to have a map and find your way round the city but I am pretty sure that will take some time for you to really have  clear understanding of the city and be able to find your way round compared to when you have someone showing you around.

When you have someone showing you round you get to visit the best places much easier and faster and also avoid the dangerous parts of the city since your guide knows the place very well.
This is the same case with a mentor, he helps you reach your goals and targets much easily compared to if you decide to do it on your own.I’m not saying doing it on your own is wrong but you need to have someone who has more experience and knowledge to help you avoid the mistakes you might make and helps you have a clear path towards your goal.

Go out there and find someone who inspires you, someone you admire whom you can learn from. It does not have to be someone great but someone who you trust can help you out in terms of making feasible decisions and they inspire you greatly.


You can also check online sites like “Mara Mentor Group”where you get to interact with mentors who offer free advice and helps you in making wise choices.Remember to choose your mentor wisely

Lesson 44. Alibaba

I have just finished reading Alibaba: The house that Jack Ma built by Duncan Clark. This is a brilliant book in the way the author presents the journey of Alibaba from Jack's small apartment to a billion dollar company, many of us have heard of Alibaba recently during the IPO but this book reminds us that success is as a result of hard work, perseverance, sacrifices and most of all loving what you are doing or  learning to do.  We see the influence that Jack Ma has established to move the company forward with the Jack Magic effect, something similar to Steve Jobs reality distortion field effect. One thing that I really loved was the clear outline of the growth of internet companies in mainland China, and a key lesson can be learned on how big tech companies in China have been able to replicate similar services and technology offerings of major players in the industry  by tailoring this to Chinese market, eg Google- Baidu eBay- Eachnet Amazon-JD.com/Alibaba ...
