Lesson 22: GETTING THINGS DONE
According to the famous concept by
James Allen on getting things done which
says that if any activity takes less than two minutes to do just take that time
and do it, you will be grateful that you to do it. This is one key of
productivity that I have found to work extremely well, just by ensuring that
every activity that only takes two minutes maximum to do I ensure that I get
over with it as quickly as possible this enables me to plan out efficiently in
things that take more time by allocating the appropriate time to deal with each
of the tasks that tend to take more time.
It is a very good concept for
dealing with procrastination, the
other concept that is firmly put across in his book again is the concept of the
open loop. This states that our
daily lives are filled with open loops of things we want to do and most of the
time we tend to procrastinate on important stuff which are key priorities that
we need to deal with it. The solution is to sit down and take time to write
down all the incomplete stuff or the things you wish to and the secret is getting
it all out on paper. Next is the second
step where under each of the written tasks you choose what next actions or steps you should take to ensure that it is done
effectively.
After writing this incomplete loops
and specifying what next steps you should take to get them done, the next thing
is decision making on when you should do the stuff through following on the
next steps of actions to be taken. By decision making it means you should check
if it takes less than two minutes to do then just get done with it and move to
the next task and if it takes more time then schedule it in your calendar by
trying to rank the tasks in the order of their priorities and which you should
concentrate on first and by that it means scheduling your priorities and this
is where your calendar comes in handy.
Try this simple steps and see how
transformative they are, I have found that it is an essential key to dealing
with procrastination and enabling you to get things done and who doesn’t like
getting things done
