Lesson 11. THE UNEXPLORED GARDEN
Let’s think of a simple garden, a small piece of land that is fertile and anything can grow on this piece of land. The owner of this land can choose to plant anything on this land that he prefers and makes a commitment to manage it, and look after it till the produce matures.
More often the farmer carefully looks after his garden ensuring nothing that is unexpected or that was never planted to grow on his garden. If by any chance a weed grows he pulls it out and take necessary measures to ensure that the weed never grows again. The farmer can go extra miles just to ensure that this garden is well taken care off and maximum results is expected. He fences the garden away from intruders that may harm his plants. He is fully dedicated to ensure that the garden thrives optimally and gives out the best.
Just like the garden, our mind follows the same concept, yet we really don’t take the initiative to take care of it, to nurture it to full capacity that it can work and produce for us the desired results.I have learnt that most people take their mind for granted, they do not take the steps to feed it with the right information or nurture it to full productivity. We often take it for granted not being able even to choose our thoughts wisely not knowing that as a man thinketh so he does he becomes and that is why we keep getting the same results the same time, we don’t strive to tend this garden that we have with the ideas that will bring out more returns compare to leaving it to grow randomly.
It is compared to just throwing some seeds onto an extremely fertile garden and not taking care of it, the seeds will finally grow on this garden but weeds too infiltrate the garden since the owner does not take care of it, no new nutrients or fertilizers are used to ensure maximum growth and productivity. We leave the garden to grow on its own not knowing that the returns will be half of what is expected.
I want to challenge you today to make a commitment of taking care of your brain, guard your thoughts, choose what you feed your mind. For example if you want more knowledge watch educational videos like TED talks,ASAP science on YouTube, read books that can open your mind to different ideas, take time to meditate which enables your mind to be more focused, use guided meditation if it is your first time and other practices that you might find important.Feed it with the right stuff and see what happens.
It is often said that it takes 30 days to acquire a new habit, try practicing this each day and you will be amazed at what differences it will have on you.
